Subject: Abdo in Kobayat

Dear Elie,

I'm a brazilian citizen, and my family is of Lebanese origin (Abdo). It seems that my great-grandfather (Abud Abdo) left Lebanon around 1890 and went to Brazil on a French ship with some of his brothers. Accounts say he was from Al Kubayat, is this the same as Kobayat?

I'm going to Lebanon next week, and most probably will go to Kobayat in late December or early January.

From what relatives in Brazil know, Mr. Michel Abdo, Mussa Abdo and Sabri Abdo are our relatives, and I'll try to contact them once I arrive in the country.

Anyway, this is just an initial email to get in touch with you, and I hope to meet you in Kobayat.

Como te anuncie en el email anterior de los hijos de Emilio Dajud, mi Abuelo en Colombia quedan Tres (3), los cuales pude reunir en mi Casa en Sahagun- Córdoba - Colombia, tomarles una foto, ahora te la estoy enviando ellos son: al lado Izquierdo Olga dajud, la Mayor, En el Centro Yuliette La menor y a la vez mi madre(acaba de cumplir 70 años), y al Lado Izquierdo Anuar, mi tío, todos ellos viven.

Te mando también una foto donde están dos de mis hermanas y dos nietos de mi madre, la niña es hija de mi hermano menor Juan Carlos el cual falleció a la edad de 38 años el 10 de diciembre de 2001.

Bonjour ! Merci infiniment d’avoir insérer mon témoignage éblouissant sur le miracle de notre Saint Thaumaturge Charbel ici même au Togo ‘‘Pays de foi’’, Car consacré a Notre Dame de Togoville par SS. Jean Paul II lui même ! ! ! où plusieurs Togolais me remercient quotidiennement pour leur avoir communiqué votre adresse du site web sur la très belle commune de Kobayat pour qu’ils puissent avoir connaissance sur le miracle de Saint Charbel sur un togolais dans votre site.

Il est si éloquent qu’ils en sont si imprégnés de cette histoire si profonde dans la souffrance d’abord puis dans une victoire palpable du bien sur le mal. J’ai un ami transitaire Mr. Nimon-Toki qui m’a conseillé de faire imprimer l’image de Saint Charbel accompagnée de la petite et significative prière à sa suite qui se trouve sur le site de Marcharbel car lui aussi de son côté l’a fait et beaucoup font encadrer cette image en la faisant bénir chez leur Curé dans leur Paroisse respective ! ! Depuis cette idée a germée dans mon esprit et je puis t’affirmer que de ma boutique j’ai pu faire distribuer gratuitement plusieurs centaines de cette belle image avec la prière de Saint Charbel et beaucoup reviennent pour me remercier car les prodiges sont si nombreux ! ! !

Brièvement tu me permettras de te citer certains:
Guérison de malades incurables, réconciliation dans les couples, donne du travail aux chômeurs, conversion des égarés, réunit les familles désunies, pacifie les cœurs des endurcis, rassasie les démunis et les plus pauvres, permet d’avoir des enfants aux femmes stériles, protège les nouveaux-nés, éloigne des foyers enfants les sorciers et les mauvais esprits même les plus malfaisants, redonne la foi aux athées etc... Nous croyons à cela car Saint CHARBEL est un Saint reconnu par l’Eglise Catholique universelle et nous ne devrions pas ignorer sa sainteté proclamée par le Vatican par S.S. le Pape Paul VI en 1977. Alors ceci est une grande fierté pour tous les Maronites de reconnaître les prodiges même les plus invraisemblables de notre grand et si généreux Saint Charbel.

Frère Elie, bientôt la communauté Maronite du Togo aura sa Paroisse dédiée à "Notre Dame du Liban’’ quatre lots groupés ont pu être obtenu grâce à l’aide des amis togolais et de leur archevêque son Excellence Philippe Fanoko KPODZRO et de la contribution des fidèles Maronites du Togo l’Architecte est connu pour sa fervente piété c’est l’ingénieur Maronite l’entrepreneur et la Bâtisseur notre cher Ami Vincent Boustany. Il est d’ailleurs un membre important du bureau paroissial de notre Eglise à Lomé, il a le même âge que moi, il voue aussi une adoration particulière à Saint CHARBEL. Il m’a raconté qu’avec l’aide de ‘‘Notre Dame du Liban’’ et de Saint Charbel nous allons pouvoir y faire bâtir une majestueuse paroisse et qu’il y aura Monseigneur Paul Guy Noujaïm qui assistera en présence évidemment de son Excellence l’Archevêque de Lomé Philippe Fanoko KPODZRO, car toutes les formalités ont bien été remplies dans la stricte légalité, la pose de la première pierre et la bénédiction des lieux se fera donc très prochainement.

Normally I take the pictures @ a resolution of 1280x960 and with approximately 550kb every picture, but I'm ready to resize them to 800x600 and will reduce the size to almost 50~75kb. Bravo Elie pour cette belle initiative qui consiste à sauver la mémoire, à sauver les liens de la communauté, à sauver l'espoir qui fait tant défaut à travers le monde.

Je voudrais vous demander conseil dans le cadre de mes recherches généalogiques. Une partie de ma famille provenait de Oyoun selon les sources familiales (HELOU) d'autres de Meschta EL HELO. Oyoun se trouverait près de Menjez dans le AKKAR mais il semble que ce soit du côté Syrien. Nous sommes Maronites.

Je ne sais pas où m'adresser pour rechercher mes ancêtres...extraits de naissances, mariage, décès etc....

Estoy muy contento de haber recibido de parte tuya respuesta a mi email, la verdad es que le informé al resto de mi familia sobre la conección que he tenido con el pueblo donde estan nuestros ancestros y todos se pusieron muy felices y ademas desde hace muchos años no hemos tennido ningun conocimiento de la existencia de estos familiares.

Cuando tengas conección con algún familiar me gustaria compartir algunas cosas con ellos, por ejemplo de la familia de mi abuelo materno AMINE DAOUD te cuento que solo quedan tres hijos asi: OLGA, ANUAR Y YULIETTE ( Mi Madre), el resto ya murierion estos eran Emilio y Luis Carlos, pero de todos ellos quedan muchos hijos menos de OLGA, que nunca se casó y todavia esta soltera, pero ya esta muy anciana, la menor de todas es mi madre Yuliette.

Por el lado del hermano de mi abuelo Amine es decir Arturo Tambien existen muchos familiares que en esta acasión seria dificil enumerarlos todos pero ya habra oportunidad.

Toda nuetra familia est ubicada en la Costa Atlantica, es decir los Departamentos de Córdoba, Sucre y Atlantico, especificamente Sahagún, Sampues, Sincelejo y Barranquilla.

Les jeunes de kobayat, élèves et universitaires, sont désormais passifs vis a vis des activités socio-culturelles qui prennent place à kobayat, et qui sont sous le patronage de la mairie de Kobayat. Comme suggestions, et qui sont actuellement exécutés dans plusieurs mairies du Liban, c'est de former un comité des jeunes, formé surtout des jeunes éduqués, universitaires et élèves, et qui sera en contact direct avec le comité officiel de la mairie (baladié). Ce comité sera présidé par un candidat de la mairie (préférablement le plus jeune) pour assurer une bonne organisation et harmonie dans la comité formée. Ce comité des jeunes prend en charge toutes les activités qui concernent les jeunes de kobayat, socio-culturelles ou environnementales.

Ce n'est qu'un premier pas vers un grand projet, j'espère qu'il soit entreprit par la mairie.

Words cannot express my deep and sincere thanks to you for your generous support and your kindest comforting words on the loss of my 35-year-old sister Mona, who passed away last week in Lebanon. Mona was a shining lamp in our family of ten, she was the youngest and she will be missed dearly by all of us for the rest of our life.
But we thank the Almighty God for sending His angel of mercy to release her from the severe pain of colon cancer she endured for the last two years.

On behalf of the entire CHIDIAC family, I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you for sharing our loss and grief and for thinking of us that day.

Dear friends,

I just received the sad news from Beirut that my youngest sister Mona CHIDIAC (35 year-old), who was sick with colon cancer for the last two years, had passed away to eternal life at Hotel Dieu hospital today Thursday, February 20, 2003. Funeral will be tomorrow Friday, at her hometown Kobayat, North Lebanon.

Mona is survived by her parents Adib & Sadie, two brothers Nadim and myself, and seven sisters:

Souad wife of George CHIDIAC

I am unable to travel to Lebanon for the funeral. But me and my sister Souad who lives currently in Sydney Australia decided to schedule a flight and meet together in Lebanon in the next month or so to console and support the family.
